Steps in the Project Life Cycle

“What are the steps in the Project Life Cycle?”

The Project Life Cycle (otherwise known as the Project Management Life Cycle) is a process that you go through, to deliver a project from end to end. The steps taken to complete a project are as follows:

1) Initiate the Project by completing a Business Case, Feasibility Study and Project Charter. Then hire your team and appoint the contractors.

2) Plan the project by setting out all of the tasks that need to be undertaken to complete the project.

3) Execute the project by undertaking the tasks listed in your project plan.

4) Close your project by documenting the results, releasing staff, contractors and suppliers.

These generic steps apply to all types and sizes of projects, in all industries.
