Microsoft Project Management Tools

Q: Do the templates rely on using MS Office products, including Word, Excel, Project, Powerpoint and Visio? If so, are they updated with each new MS Office release (e.g. 2007)?


A: To view and customize the content included in MPMM, you do not need to have Microsoft Office installed. However in saying that, you do need to have Office installed if you want to extract the project management templates outside of the tool. It is fair to say that more than 95% of our customers currently use Microsoft Office for customizing the project management processes  using the project manager tools and templates included.

Communications Register

Under what situations should I create a Communications Register for my project ? For small, medium and large projects you should always implement a Communications Register. This register will identify all of the communications events that have taken place for the project and also the communications events that are due to take place in the future. The reason for listing the communications events that are due to take place is that it provides a single place where the project manager can use and control communications to stake holders.
